Biography

I’m Wilson — a singer-songwriter and guitarist from West Yorkshire, UK. I’ve spent more than three decades writing, recording and performing music that reflects the things I’ve lived through, the people I’ve met, and the world around me. My sound draws from rock, blues, acoustic folk and alternative music, shaped by my love of honest but often dark songs.

I first found my feet on the live circuit in the 1990s with my band The Stand, playing venues across the UK including legendary Leeds spots like The Duchess and The Cockpit. Later, I formed heavy rock band Down The Machine, which led to signing with Ambicon Records and playing festivals including Leeds Festival and Bingley Festival.

Alongside heavier music, I was also writing more personal songs — stripped back, acoustic tracks that eventually became the foundation of my first solo album. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of performing at festivals across the UK, including The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival, sharing stages with artists such as Toploader, and receiving support from BBC Introducing's Alan Raw.

My debut solo album Serpentine (2016) introduced a darker and more introspective side of my songwriting. Since then, I’ve released Afraid of the World (2019), Black Is The Sky (2022), and Force Of Nature  (2025) — each album documenting a different chapter in my journey.

For me, music has always been about connection but from a safe distance. Whether I’m playing solo with an acoustic guitar or with a full band, the aim has always the same: to tell the truth, create something real, and share songs that hopefully stay with people long after the last note.
